Why write for the Journal of General Management?

    Four reasons to publish in JGM:

  1. A reputation for excellence and a long publishing history. The journal has a long-standing reputation for publishing high quality research, and is supported by an internationally excellent editorial board and a large team of dedicated reviewers. Every article accepted for consideration receives double-blind peer review. The editorial team helps ensure submitted articles are developed and improved with constructive criticism, and we work to ensure that even those articles that may not be accepted for immediate publication are carefully scrutinised and given the chance to improve.
     

  2. Global circulation. Being published in the Journal of General Management is a way to publicize your research in universities around the world, from China to Brazil, from Harvard to Queensland. With nearly 40 years of publishing history, JGM is a known and respected business title sold to hundreds of university and business school libraries, to army training staff colleges, professional bodies, and independent researchers and management practitioners across the globe.
     

  3. A unique focus on the manager as a complete professional. JGM is not the only scholarly journal to try and bridge the well-known gap between the theory and practice of business management. Yet it is quite unique in its founding idea: that the modern manager needs to be more than a narrow technician, but a consummate professional, and a complete human being equipped with a broader vision of the significance of their business. JGM was therefore conceived as a vehicle for research across all fields of administrative science that encourages the cultivation of managerial excellence - in the broadest sense as Aristotelian arete - both personal and professional.
     

  4. An individual touch. Almost all scholarly journals are now in the hands of a few very large publishing companies with cohorts of journals, a situation that can lead to an impersonal, almost factory-farming approach to publishing. As noted in the most recent Association of Business Schools,

Over the past two decades, academic journal publishing has risen from relative obscurity to become a global industry dominated by big international publishing houses. Something is lost when journals are mass-produced and made to conform to a major publisher's template.  JGM, by contrast, is independently owned and managed by a specialist publisher dedicated to providing a service for the scholarly community, and as such it is quite unique among comparable business journals - JGM is neither the vehicle for a particular business school, nor just another title among hundreds owned by a publishing house.  But in terms of its editorial board, global distribution, ranking, and unique history, JGM clearly stands out from comparable journals.
